High Commissioner James G. McDonald, of the German refugee body, returned today from Germany after a brief visit to Berlin where he talked with officials in the Foreign Office about a number of technical matters. The High Commissioner issued an official communique to this effect.
Mr. McDonald will proceed to the United States tomorrow aboard the French liner Paris a week sooner than he had planned. He has recelved news from home informing him that his daughter is seriously ill.
While in the United States the High Commissioner will cooperate with a number of organizations in connection with the campaign to raise funds to extend relief to the German refugees.
Mr. McDonal sailed for Europe on November 4, 1933, following his appointment by the League of Nations. He returned for the Christmas holidays and made a second trip after holding conferences with officials in Washington and Jewish leaders.
Barbara M. McDonald, young daughter of the High Commissioner, is seriously ill with pneumonia at the McDonald residence in Bronxville.
