James G. McDonald, High Commissioner of the League of Nations for Refugees from Germany, will speak at the dinner officially opening the local United Jewish Appeal for German relief Sunday, June 3, at 6:30 o’clock in the Concordia Club.
A regional conference of representatives from the tri-state area will be held at 12:30 o’clock in the Y.M. and Y.W.H.A. the same day.
Rabbi Solomon B. Freehof, formerly of Chicago, who has accepted the call to Temple Rodef Shalom, will speak at the conference and also at the evening dinner.
Pittsburgh is aiming for a $100,000 quota as its contribution toward the national $3,000,000 quota for funds to go toward the resettlement and rehabilitation of Jews in Germany.
Leo Lehman is general chairman of the drive, which will extend from June 3 through June 13.
