Coordination of the NRA codes for the retail meat and live poultry trades in Greater New York will be effected by representatives of both industries at a conference Friday, according to a joint announcement yesterday by Leroy Peterson, poultry code administrator, and David S. Andron, counsel to the Federation of Kosher Butchers.
A liaison committee consisting of representatives of both code authorities will be set up to obviate cut – throat competition between butchers and chicken dealers retailing poultry.
The poultry core at present governs poultry commission houses and slaughter houses, while butchers come under the retail meat code and retail chicken dealers are not included in any code.
Applications of chicken dealers’ associations for membership in the Federation of Kosher Butchers have been accepted, Mr. Andron said, entitling the dealers to a voice in administration of the retail meat code.
