The American Medical Association has agreed to eliminate from its Journal all references to race, color or creed in its “situation-wanted” classified advertising, it was announced by Edward W. Edwards, chairman of the N.Y. State Commission Against Discrimination.
The Commission began an investigation of the A.M.A. Journal last month following the filing of charges by the American Jewish Congress that acceptance of such advertising by the medical association’s publication violated state anti-discrimination logislation. The A.M.A.’s decision came after a conference between A.M.A. officials and representatives of the Commission.
