Medical Center Plan Endorsed by U.S. Leaders

Men and women orominent in education, medicine, social service and philanthropy have endorsed the plan to build a medical center in Palestine which is to be a combined hospital, research institute and post-graduate school of medicine. The list of endorsers was made public yesterday by Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America.

The new center, which will be known as the Hadassah-University Hospital, is the joint undertaking of Hadassah and the American Jewish Physicians’ Committee. A campaign to raise $200,000 for the construction of the medical center is now in progress here with Mrs. Edward Jacobs, Mrs. Alexander Lamport. Dr. Nathan Ratnoff and Dr. Emanuel Libman as co-chairmen. Mrs. Felix M. Warburg is honorary chairman.

When the medical center is completed it is planned to engage German scientists and specialists now in Palestine to head the various hospital departments and to direct the research and teaching. The hospital will be administered by the Hadassah Medical Organization. Academic work will be under direction of the Hebrew University.
