Chancellor Adolf Hitler’s autobiography, “Mein Kampf,” is now in its 231st edition and has sold 2,500,000 copies in Germany alone, according to the official organ of the German book trade. Up to November, 1937, 7,100 copies had been sold in America.
The work has been translated into eight languages. The first English version was published in the United States in October, 1933, and two days later issued in England. In England, the large edition has sold 5,000 copies and a cheap edition 19,000 copies by the end of October, 1936.
An Italian translation which appeared in March, 1934, is now in its third edition. The book appeared in Denmark in January, 1934, and had sold 7,000 copies by November, 1926. Of the Swedish translation, out in April, 1934, 2,500 copies have been sold. A Portuguese version was issued in Portugal and Brazil the same year. A Hungarian translation appeared in 1935. More than 3,000 copies have been sold to date in Hungary.
