The unveiling of the tomb stone on the grave of Meir Grossman, a former member of the Jewish Agency executive and one of the founders of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, was held today at Nahlat Yitzhak Cemetery here on the occasion of the first anniversary of his death.
In a eulogy delivered by Menahem Beigin, the chairman of the Herut Party lauded Mr. Grossman as one of those who laid the foundations of the Jewish State. Together with Vladimir Jabotinsky, he declared, Mr. Grossman realized that an independent state was a necessity for the Jewish people. Although he did not go all the way with Jabotinsky, the historic role which Mr. Grossman fulfilled in the achievement of Israeli independence should not be minimized.
Moshe Kol, a member of the Jewish Agency executive, described Mr. Grossman as “one of the greatest figures in the national revival, a brilliant publicist and a gifted speaker who always knew where he was going and who believed with all his heart in the way he chose.” Mr. Grossman’s son recited the Kaddish.
