The death has occurred here at the age of 70, of Louis Ullstein, the second son of Leopold Ullstein, founder of the great Ullstein newspaper and book publishing concern in Berlin.
The late Louis Ullstein played a great part in the development of the firm of Ullstein. He was in considerable measure responsible for the growth of the concern and for the management of the numerous newspapers published by it.
Although part of the Ullstein family, including Louis Ullstein, has dissociated itself from the Jewish community, Nazi propaganda has been particularly directed against the Ullstein firm. Its publications, which include such important German newspapers as the “Berliner Zeitung”, “Vossische Zeitung”, “Berliner Morgenpost”, “Berliner Abendpost”, “Berliner Illustrierte Zeitung”, are systematically talked of in Nazi propaganda as “the Jewish press”.
