Members of the Dutch Trade Union Federation published an open letter in which they dissociated themselves from a message of sympathy sent by Federation officials to Israel’s Histadrut 10 days ago. The dissenters said that officials “do not speak for all members” and they criticized the sympathy message for being “one-sided.” For them, the “underlying cause” of the Middle East conflict remains Israel’s “continued occupation of Arab territories and its denial of the rights of the Palestinians.”
