MEMBERS OF THE GERMAN-AMERICAN BUND, PRO-NAZI ORGANIZATION, WILL NOT BE GRANTED CITIZENSHIP IF THEY APPLY TO COMMON PLEAS JUDGE J. WALLACE LEYDEN, HE INDICATED HERE IN ADDRESSING A CLASS OF 124 NEW CITIZENS IN BERGEN COUNTY NATURALIZATION COURT.
“IT SEEMS OBVIOUS,” THE JURIST SAID, “THAT A PERSON BELIEVING IN DICTATORSHIPS CAN NOT ALSO BELIEVE IN THE AMERICAN FROM OF GOVERNMENT. YOU CAN’T BE BOTH AN AMERICAN AND A GERMAN. YOU MUST BE EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER. I CONSIDER MEMBERSHIP IN THE GERMAN-AMERICAN BUND SUFFICIENT GROUNDS FOR DENYING CITIZENSHIP.”
