A 470-page memorial for a Jewish town in Lithuania wiped out by the Nazis and their henchmen has been published here. It is titled “Yaneve-On-The-Vilija” and is a detailed illustrated history of the former Jewish community of Yaneve, published by the Association of Immigrants from Yaneve and edited by Shimon Noy, of Kibbutz Amir, a former member of the editorial staff of the newspaper Al Hamishmar.
The book represents extensive research by Yitzhak Burstein, chairman of the immigrants’ association. It contains individual essays, members of survivors and facts and figures on the Jewish community of Yaneve. The volume is illustrated with some rare photographs and drawings by Larissa Bolnik who comes from the town, located on the Vilija, a Lithuanian river.
