President Zalman Shazar participated along with thousands of other Israelis here last night in memorial ceremonies on Mount of Memory for the 6,000.000 Jews killed during the Nazi holocaust. Addressing the ceremony, Education Minister Zalman Aranne said that what had happened during the Nazi holocaust “can never be forgotten.” Similar ceremonies were held last night atop Mount Zion and in many other parts of the country.
Addressing one of the gatherings at Nahlat Yitzhak Cemetery on the outskirts of Tel Aviv. Prime Minister Levi Eshkol warned against the recrudescence of anti-Semitism in any part of the world. He said that Israel alone cannot serve as a bulwark against anti-Semitism. In special ceremonies today, the Premier pinned medals on several hundred members of the Fighters Against Nazism organization, escapees who had fought often against armed Nazi murderers.
