A memorial oak in honor of Sophie Irene Loeb will be dedicated on Arbor Day, May 3, at 3:30 P. M., at the Heckscher Children’s Playground in Central Park, under the auspices of the Community Councils of the City of New York, of which organization Miss Loeb was chairman of the Child Welfare Committee. The speakers for the occasion will include August Heckscher, Park Commissioner Walter R. Herrick, Dr. Louis I. Harris, present chairman of the Child Welfare Committee, and John Tenant, managing editor of the “Evening World.” Amongst the guest will be former Governor Smith, Lieut.-Gov. Herbert H. Lehman, Mayor Walker, and Police Commissioner Whalen.
