A memorial to the 6,000,000 Jews exterminated by the Germans and to the fallen heroes of the Battle of the Warsaw Ghetto will be erected on Riverside Drive in New York, it was announced here today. Jo Davidson, internationally known sculptor, is already at work modeling the monument.
The announcement was made by the executive committee of the American Memorial to Six Million Jews of Europe, an organization headed by Dr. Joseph Thon, president of the National Organization of Polish Jews. Arthur Szyk, well-known Jewish artist; and A. Lerner, author. The dedication ceremony is scheduled for September.
