Representatives of the government, including Generalissimo Heye of the German marine and representatives of the Jewish community were present at the unveiling of a war memorial to 3.500 Jewish soldiers who fell in the world war.
Thousands of Jewish soldiers who served in the Germany army during the World War attended the ceremonies. Addresses were delivered by Rabbi Leo Baeek and Herr Wolff, president of the Kehillah.
The addresses delivered by the representatives of the Jewish community contained a note of complaint that the fraternal spirit which was manifest during the war period has died and that the memory of the Jewish war dead has been desecrated by the anti-Semitic agitators. The speakers expressed the hope that the era of peace is near.
The army band played and Kaddish was said for the fallen soldiers.
