Plans to extend the activities of the Menorah Association to the general community, instead of being confined to the colleges and universities, were considered at a dinner of the Board of Governors held at the Biltmore Hotel under the chairmanship of Moses J. Stroock. Endowment of the Menorah Foundation, to publish a new history of the Jews by leading scholars in America and Europe, was announced at the dinner.
Professor Irwin Edman of Columbia University, former Health Commissioner Louis I. Harris, Frederick F. Greenman, Harry Starr, President of the Intercollegiate Menorah Societies, and Henry Hurwitz, Chancellor of the Menorah Association, addressed the gathering. Members of the Board who were present included F. Julius Fohs. Frederick F. Greenman, Lucius N. Littauer, Joseph Pulvermacher, Meier Steinbrink and S. W. Straus.
Otto H. Kahn has become a member of the Menorah Association and has contributed toward its work, it was announced.
The Independent Order Free Sons of Israel, a national fraternal organization of which Samuel Sturtz is Grand Master, has appropriated $2,500 for the Menorah Association, it was declared.
