The Israeli Merchant Marine sailed again yesterday after the seamen agreed to end their wildcat strike and return to normal work while negotiations are held with the shipping companies under the auspices of Histadrut. The six-day strike cost Israel some IL 10 million as many ships were idled and goods were not loaded. However, it is hoped that with the resumption of normal work, an effort will be made to hasten loading of grain and other essential commodities in foreign ports. Zim notified its employes that it was cancelling all dismissal letters. Yitzhak Ben Aharon, Histadrut’s leader, was instrumental in bringing the strike to an end.
