The name, “Israel’s Labor Party,” was under favorable consideration today for the proposed merged party of Premier Levi Eshkol’s Mapai, its coalition Alignment party. Achdut Avodah, and former Premier David Ben-Gurion’s dissident Israel Workers Party (Rafi).
Details of the merger of Mapai and Achdut Avodah were reported today to be virtually completed. Final drafting of the merger pact was finished and last touches tentatively approved. The other phase of the talks to bring Rafi into the new labor party were pushed today in an effort to complete them.
