A representative of the Methodist Federation for Social Action told the Senate immigration investigation hearing this morning that all racial, religious or national origin bare to Immigration should be eliminated from U.S. immigration laws to make them consistent with American and Christian ideals.

The Rev. Alson J. Smith, representing the Methodist group, told committee investigators that the “national origin” basis of our quota law “makes us subscribe to a doctrine of racial difference the best-known exponent of which was the late Adolph Hitler and which we know to be biologically ridiculous as well as ethically outrageous.”
