Gomez Vallejo, the agricultural expert, has been entrusted by the Mexican Government with a special mission to the Argentine in order to study the condition of colonization there.
M. Vallejo has visited the Ica colonies in Entre-Rios in order to study the methods, the organization and the functioning of the cooperatives, etc. M. Vallejo was very favorably impressed with everything he saw and expressed his admiration of the great work which the Ica is conducting with so much success in the Argentine.
The colonists in the Ica settlements are in addition to the agricultural work development dairy farming. In the groups at Entre-Rios the colonists obtain 40,000 litres of milk daily from their cows, from which they derive a profitable income.
JEWISH COMMUNAL ACTIVITIES
Plans for a Jewish Community Center Building in Peekskill, N. Y., were decided on at a joint mass meeting of the Y. M. & Y. W. H. A. and the First Hebrew Congregation.
It is planned to purchase a piece of ground in the center of the Village and to erect a Jewish Community Center. There are about 175 Jewish families in Peekskill.
The project was launched by the Y. M. & Y. W. H. A, who had at first planned to erect a clubhouse of their own.
Preliminary work on the construction of the new $180,000 Adath Yeshurun synagogue in Minneapolis, Minn. has begun. The plans call for the erection of a school and community center in addition to the synagogue. In the school there will be facilities for 12 class rooms, gymnasium, theater, auditorium, kitchen, dining room, lockers and showers, library, studies and lounging rooms.
