Deutsch also predicted that German Jewry will not recover its former status for at least fifty years, owing to “hatred implanted in the German children by the Hitlerite program of education.” He added that economic conditions in Germany tend to augment anti-Semitism and that “even a social revolution in Germany will not eradicate anti-Jewish feeling among the young generation there.”
Deutsch and his wife, who have been here since Thursday, have been lavishly entertained by Mexican officials. Yesterday they toured the city accompanied by United States Ambassador Josephus Daniels, United States Consul General Thomas Bowman, the Mexican Foreign Minister, Dr. Jose Manuel Puig Casaurane and Aaron Saenz, governor of the Federal District. Deutsch admiringly declared, “Just as there is only one New York, there is only one Mexico City.”
