General Federico Montes, Chief of Police, told newspaper reporters after the anti-Jewish excesses of Jan. 26 that the police had not taken drastic steps to avert the disorders in order not to repeat the brutal measures adopted 30 years ago in the repression of the “early revolutionary outbreaks” which prepared the way for the Mexican Revolution of 1910, according to the Mexican Labor News Service.
