Meyer B. Cohen, father of Dr. Gerson D. Cohen, chancellor of The Jewish Theological Seminary of America, died yesterday in Israel at the age of 87. Funeral services were held there today. Mr. Cohen was born in Russia in 1890, and came to the United States in 1906. He was a pioneer in the movement to revive Hebrew as a living tongue, and it was the language spoken in his home. In his business life, Mr. Cohen was an agent for the Prudential Insurance Company, retiring in 1959. In 1960, he moved to Israel, where he spent his last years.
