The establishment of a new city in Israel’s Negev will be sponsored by the Greater Miami Jewish Community, it is announced here today by Leon J. Ell, president of the Jewish National Fund Council here.
The decision by the Miami JNF group was made in response to a call by Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, who appealed to world Jewry to establish ten new cities in the Negev. The Miami project, which is scheduled for completion over a three-year period, makes this community the first to respond to Premier Ben-Gurion’s request.
