A loan for $1,000,000 will be secured by the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, the largest sum ever negotiated locally by the Federation, to help provide additional aid to Israel. The loan will be guaranteed by the United Jewish Appeal.
The Federation’s board of governors authorized the loan on recommendation of a special committee headed by A. J. Harris. The $1,000,000 loan represented the third time Miami has participated in such UJA financing. In 1954, the Miami Federation floated a $750,000 loan and in 1956 a loan of $550,000.
