Michael G. Appel has been elected president of the Brooklyn Federation, largest Jewish welfare organization in that borough with 25 affiliated institutions, it was announced today following the 34th annual meeting of the board of directors. Mr. Appel succeeds Hugh Grant Straus, who served as president of the Brooklyn Federation during the past four years.
