A record number of 5,700 Jewish emigrants left Tur##y for Israel during March, it was revealed here today. About 1,150 of them embar?ed directly at Izmir, while the remainder sailed from this port for Haifa.
The rate of emigration is expected to be maintained during April. Thousands of Jews have already obtained their passports and during the first few days of this ###th 1,f200 emigrants left from here and 500 sailed from Izmir. The movement of Jews out of this country has already had its effect in the retail fields, particularly in the ###tailing of hosiery in which Jews were apparently heavily represented. The Turkish ####s has commented on the situation, asserting that it will be difficult to reple### Jewish merchants who left.
