Dr. Astorre Meyer president of the Standing Conference of European Jewish Community Services and of the Milan Jewish Community, was awarded the “Knighthood of Work” award by President Guiseppe Saragat. The occasion was the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Italian Republican.
Mr. Meyer, one of the top Jewish leaders not only in Italy but internationally for his work and contributions, was one of 20 new recipients of the honor for contributions to the progress of Italian society. The award has become a coveted recognition of special merit in the field of public service in postwar Italy.
