German Jews between the ages of eighteen and forty-five desiring to emigrate from the Reich must in the future apply to War Office authorities for a certificate releasing them from military obligations, according to an order made public today.
Such a certificate is necessary “in order to avoid any difficulties in securing a permit for leaving the Reich,” the announcement says, adding that “although Jews are not admitted to the army, they nevertheless remain under full military supervision.”
