Funeral services were held today for Milton Weill, a former president of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York, who died Thursday night at the Mount Sinai Medical Center at the age of 84. Born and educated in New York City. Mr. Weill was active in a wide variety of philanthropic, civic and communal organizations. As 14th president of the Federation, from 1961 to 1964, he was responsible for the implementation of a $50 million building and expansion program, the largest capital fund program by a local philanthropic organization in the United States.
Mr. Weill had served as vice-president of the Greater New York Fund, member of the board of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York, director of the United Services Organization, member of the boards of the American Jewish Committee and the Joint Distribution Committee, vice-president and a director of the National Jewish Welfare Board, overseer of the Brandeis University graduate school of social welfare, and honorary chairman of the board of the Associated YM & YWHAs of New York.
