Affiliation of the Federated Jewish Charities here with the Community Fund was voted at a meeting of contributing members.
The consolidation will end the separate drives for funds hitherto conducted by the Jewish charities, and will bring one of the last remaining independent philanthropic organizations into the Community Fund’s fold.
Four of the six subsidiary organizations of the Jewish charities — the Jewish Social Service Association, Jewish Center, Relief Sewing Society and the Children’s Outing Society — will enter into the affiliation. However, Mount Sinai Hospital and the Board of Jewish Education will be left out, because of the Community Fund’s rules against hospitals and purely educational bodies participating in its drives. These two institutions will have to conduct separate financial campaigns.
