Milwaukee Jews have just been honored by appointment to a series of important public bodies.
Two of them, Fred D. Goldstone, secretary of the Community Fund, and Rabbi Samuel Hirshberg, of Temple Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, have been named to the city-wide committee which is to campaign for general adoption of the blanket code for higher wages and lower hours proposed by the national administration.
Morris Stern, attorney and communal leader, has been appointed by Mayor Daniel W. Hoan to the city’s board of assessments, which draws up plans for assessable public improvements. Mr. Stern is now also a member of the municipal zoning board of review.
Two Jewish women, Mrs. Michael Levin, of the Council of Jewish Women, and Mrs. I. Greenberg, of the Women’s Peace League, were named by Mayor Hoan to a committee of 18 investigating the rise in prices to determine whether profiteering existed.
