The local United Jewish Appeal campaign for $35,000 has the support of this city’s Christian clergy and lay lawyers, it was learned today with the release of a letter by Fred Becker, president of the Milwaukee County Council of Churches, to A. L. Saltzstein, campaign chairman. The letter expresses “hearty sympathy with efforts to arouse interest of the Christian people on behalf of German refugees.”
At the same time, a local unit of the American National Committee for German Refugees, with civic and church leaders on its board, was named to canvass non-Jews. Dr. E. Leroy Dakin, pastor of the First Baptist Church, is chairman.
