Israel Minister Eliahu Elath today tendered a luncheon to the Israel and British negotiators who last week completed a civil aviation pact between the two nations. Present at the luncheon, in addition to the negotiators, were Lord Pakenham, British Minister for Civil Aviation, representatives of the British Foreign and Colonial Offices and members of the Israel legation staff.
Expressing satisfaction with the agreement, Minister Elath recalled Britain’s contribution to Israel air traffic by laying the foundations for Lydda airport, Israel’s chief landing field which is rapidly expanding and may soon become the most important airfield in the Middle East. After paying tribute to the Israel negotiators, the British aviation experts promised all assistance to the Jews in developing their civil aviation.
