Herbert Morrison, Minister of Transport, in an address delivered this morning at the annual conference of the Labor Party here, declared:

“There has been bloodshed in Palestine. We express our profound sympathy with those who suffered and with the relatives of those who lost their lives.

“We re-affirm our policy with regard to the Palestine mandate and the obligation it carries towards the Jewish people, towards the Palestine inhabitants, whether Jew or Arab, and the League of Nations.

“We do not agree that there exists a diversion of interests between the Jewish and Arab working population in Palestine. There is room for both and understanding cooperation between both races is essential for the peaceful development of the country. The just claims and grievances of both communities must be met,” he declared.

Labor organizations in America and the Zionist Federation of Jewish Labor cabled messages to the conference concerning the Palestine events.
