The foreign ministers of the five Scandinavian countries decided here today not to reverse their current joint position on the Middle East which is based on their support of the Security Council’s Resolution 242. Foreign Minister Paul Harting of Denmark, who chaired the semiannual meeting, declared that the Scandinavian countries have decided to continue to support the implementation of Resolution 242. Their decision assumed added importance inasmuch as the resolution is expected to come up for discussion at the UN General Assembly which opens Sept. 21. Apart from their numerical importance the Scandinavian countries Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland–exert a moral influence on a number of non-committed countries.
