Avoidance of Roman Catholic indoctrination in the curricula of Italian public schools was requested here today by the Federal Council of Italian Evangelical Churches. A representative of the Council met with Minister of Education Paolo Rossi.
Pointing out that he was speaking on behalf of all religious minority groups in the country, the Council representative told the Minister that it is not enough merely to exempt non-Catholic students from lessons embracing Catholic catechism. He insisted that, under constitutional guarantees of freedom of religion, permeation of the curriculum with Catholic doctrine must also be avoided.
