A pioneer Hadassah nurse, Miss Bertha Landsman, who set up a model welfare center and milk station, Tipat Chalav, which became a pattern for subsequent welfare programs in Israel, died here last night at the age of 80.
The body lay in state at the Ein Karim medical center until noon today and was then removed for burial after an impressive funeral attended by the executive of the Hadassah Council and many friends and former pupils. Miss Landsman came to Palestine in 1920 at the invitation of Henrietta Szold, founder of Hadassah.
