Henrietta Szold, women Zionist leader, is listed on the honor roll for 1935 compiled by The Nation, Liberal weekly, which will be printed in its Jan, 1 issue. Other Jews listed are Jo Mielziner and Clifford Odets, In addition, Jeremiah T. Mahoney is lauded for his efforts on behalf of the Berlin Olympics boycott.
The citation for Miss Szold follows: “Henrietta Szold, who at seventy-five years of age, after a crowded lifetime of work in behalf of the oppressed Jews of all countries, is head of the Youth Aliyah movement, which has already transferred almost a thousand German Jewish children to Palestine and settled them on the land.”
Mr. Odets is lauded for his plays and Mr. Mielziner for his “beautiful stage designs” for the play “Winterset.”
