Starting with the week-end after Labor Day, a goodwill mission of the United Jewish Appeal will open an intensive series of informational visits to Jewish communities throughout the country, it was announced by William Rosenwald, general chairman of the UJA.
The mission is made up of 35 nationally prominent leaders of the UJA who have volunteered to tour 75 key cities during September to help coordinate the current philanthropic endeavors which are of mutual concern to the national UJA and the local Jewish welfare organizations, of whose fund-raising campaigns the UJA is a major beneficiary. A group of visitors from Israel, who are authorities on Israel’s mounting problems in receiving and absorbing the new mass inflow of Jewish refugees, will join the UJA unit. The mission will not engage in fund-raising activities.
