A parade of 25 vehicles manned by 250 youth members of the Lubavitcher movement was held today in support of the six-point “Mitzvah Campaign” started by the Hasidic movement a year ago. The parade began this morning at the Lubavitcher complex in Brooklyn and ended on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Lubavitcher Youth Organization director, said that the Lubavitcher youth, in their mitzvah mobile campaign, have succeeded in persuading at least 200 New York Jews to don phylacteries daily. The parade was held to mark Lag B’Omer. At the end of the parade the young people drove their vehicles to various parts of the city to continue their efforts for traditional Jewish practices.
