A conference of the Mizrachi Organization, held in advance of Wednesday’s opening of the 21st biennial World Zionist Congress, today adopted a resolution calling for non-cooperation with the Palestine Government and public services in protest against Britain’s new Palestine policy.
The conference also urged an increase in Jewish industry in the Holy Land in order to cut into the Government’s revenue from import duties. The Mizrachi expressed dissatisfaction with the World Zionist Executive for not resigning last May when the British policy was issued.
Meanwhile, two Zionist parties were contesting the elections in Poland and Palestine for delegates to the Congress. A conference of the Group B General Zionists, numbering about 50 delegates, decided not to participate in the Congress presidium and commissions unless all Polish and Palestinian mandates were invalidated and each Zionist group given proportional representation on a compromise basis. Mizrachi, which boycotted the Palestine elections, was considering a similar step.
The first group of 26 delegates from Germany to the Congress arrived this morning. Two other groups are due tomorrow.
The German Consulate at Warsaw has refused to grant transit visas to members of the Polish delegation. The delegation, which is traveling on a collective passport issued by the Polish Foreign Office, as a result has been compelled to seek transit through Hungary, Yugoslavia and Italy, and is expected to be delayed in reaching here.
