The 31st annual convention of the Mizrachi Women’s Organization of America adopted today a budget of $1,100,000 for its social service and vocational education projects in Israel. The convention also voted to explore the possibilities of extending vocational training facilities to Beersheba.
Principal speakers at the session today were Dr. Joseph Schwartz, executive head of the Israel Bond Organization, and Moshe Kol, member of the Jewish Agency executive. Both spoke of Israel’s need for bolstering its economy and its social welfare structure. Arthur C. Liveran, member of the Israel delegation to the United Nations, spoke to the meeting on Israel’s security problems. Mrs. Ebin, president of the Mizrachi Women, outlined a program of political action which included “unremitting pressure for the right of free emigration to Israel” of Jews from the USSR and other Communist states.
