A call for a “moratorium on hate mongering and threats of military aggression in the Middle East” was voiced here tonight by United States Senator Kenneth B. Keating, New York Republican, who urged the United States to take the initiative toward promoting a Mideast arms control pact between the Arab states and Israel.
Senator Keating was the principal speaker at the opening of the 36th annual convention here of the Mizrachi Women’s Organization of America. Five hundred delegates representing 50,000 members are attending the four-day parley.
Ogden R. Reid, former United States Ambassador to Israel, was. honored with the 1961 America-Israel Friendship Award at tonight’s, session. The award is given by the Mizrachi women every year to the “person not of the Jewish faith who has contributed most deeply to understanding between the peoples of the United States and Israel.”
