Henry Morgenthau, Jr., chairman of the board of directors of the Modern Industrial Bank, today announced at a press conference that his bank will transmit money from the United States to Israel free of charge, regardless of the size of the sums involved.
This is the first time in the history of banking in New York that a bank has offered to transmit money abroad without charging for the operation, Mr. Morgenthau emphasized. Individuals residing outside of New York can take advantage of the service by mailing a check to the Modern Industrial Bank which will transmit the full sum to Israel to be paid there by the Anglo-Palestine Bank, he declared.
