Advocacy of the monarchistic form of government as a solution for the present economic crisis in the country is assuming the proportions of a movement. It is intended to amend the Polish constitution in this direction.
The National Democratic Party, the largest parliamentary group which holds 100 seats in the Diet, has decided to increase the power of the president and to pass a new electoral law. The Christian Nationalists who hold 20 seats in the Diet, as well as the Conservative Party of Posen have decided to work for the establishment of a heredity monarchy and to amend the electoral law. The Peasants Party and the Radical Peasants Party are reported to be in favor of the monarchistic idea. The amendment of the electoral law is believed to aim at a Polish homogeneous majority in the Diet.
