The real national income of Palestine for 1943 increased approximately one-third above the 1939 level, although the money value figure has risen to three times the 1939 level, according to the current Foreign Commerce Weekly, official publication of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The national income of the year 1943 in money values was estimated by the Palestine Department of Statistics at £90,000,000 ($363,150,000) as compared with $75,890,000 ($306,216,150) in 1942, and £30,240,000 ($122,018,400) in 1939. As measured in 1939 prices, however, the national income in 1943 was approximately $40,000,000 ($161,400,000), representing an aggregate increase of roughly one-third in the volume of production of goods and services above the 1939 level.
