Funeral services were held yesterday for Louis Newman, an outstanding figure in Montana politics, who died in Los Angeles. Mr. Newman was sixty-five years of age, and a native of Germany and came from Great Falls, Montana to Los Angeles in 1925.
Mr. Newman was mayor of Havre Mont., moved to Great Falls and became Mayor there, later serving a term in the Montana legislature. For eight years he was chairman of the International Irrigation Congress. He was a member of the Sons of Herman, and a Mason. Besides his widow, Mrs. Jennie Newman, he leaves his sons E. S. and Arthur Newman, and a daughter, Bernice Newman.
