Local Jewry went “over the top” in its response to the $300,000 campaign on behalf of the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies. The total subscriptions reported at the final dinner of the workers amounted to $303,676.06. Despite the hard times prevailing, the campaign was oversubscribed by $3,500.
The money, which will enable the thirteen constituent societies which form the Federation to carry on their work among the poor, the orphans, the tubercular and other distressed citizens, was raised as follows. Special names, $122,014.56; trades and zones, $166,282.74; women’s divisions, $10,877.39; ladies garment workers union, $1,500; and Amalgamated Union, $3,000.
