A new record total of $4,154,900 has been raised in the 1964 Joint Campaign for Combined Jewish Appeal and United Israel Appeal, it was announced today by George H. Scott, Joint Campaign Chairman. This total compares with $4,000,408 raised in 1963.
“In setting a new campaign record,” Mr. Scott pointed out, “we have remained true to the fine tradition established by the Joint Campaign over the past ten years. Our campaign results have gone up every year since 1955. Ten years ago we raised $2,355,564. We now stand at $4,154,900 and I must pay special tribute to every campaign chairman who preceded me for what they have done to make possible this year-to-year increase.”
Alvin Bronstein, executive director of the Joint Campaign, said: “This campaign stresses the unity of the Jewish community in meeting our responsibility to our fellowmen wherever they may be. Our concern in the Joint Campaign goes beyond the members of our own religious faith. The proceeds of the campaign are used in a great measure to serve all who need and want the services of our agencies as many of them offer services without regard to race, color or creed.”
